Excessive wear and shortened life of a well motor a serious issue
This customer was getting water to his home, but his well pump was cycling on and off almost constantly. This can be a very serious issue because it can cause excessive wear and shorten the life of the motor significantly.
You may be able to adjust the pressure switch on your own to see if that solves the problem. There is an adjustment screw as well as a differential screw. If you are not familiar with how to make these changes, call us or talk to the manufacturer. It is very important that you don’t turn the adjustment screw to high because the pump may not shut off at all.
The pump may be cycling too often because its pressure tank has become waterlogged. The well tank has to have the right amount of air pressure in order to keep cycling to a minimum. While the pump is off, air forces water out of the tank. When the pump is running, the tank is re-filled with water for the next usage cycle. You can try to recharge the pressure tank by draining out all of the water. After recharging, open the gate valve to let water back in the tank and see if that solves the problem.
