Sump Pump Repair in Reading, PA

You may need a plumber to help change your float switch

This customer needed a new float switch in his basement sump pump. If you have the right parts and equipment, this is a job you may be able to take care of on your own. You need to know ahead of time, however, that this could very well prove to be a difficult project. If you don’t have the time or the experience necessary, call a plumber.

  • Take the switch out of the pump, and then unscrew the connections and open it up.
  • You should see the small electrical switch inside the pump. Take it out and secure the replacement using waterproof glue.
  • Let the unit dry and then put it back in the sump pump to make sure it operates correctly.

A float switch can develop problems if debris floats into the sump pit. If you replace it on your own, you need to make sure that the pump is properly sealed afterward. There are ways that you can add an external float switch, but that job will likely need to be performed by a technician.

If you have trouble with the float switch or any other portion of your sump pump, call Essig Plumbing and Cooling today.
